CNC processing technology is the core IP of SPO. We have  over 40 years of experience in producing freeform, Cylindrical, Aspheric, Toroidal, and other complex surfaces. Our unique and extensive expertise is integrated with Multi axis CNC machines to provide complex elements of high accuracy. SPO offers cooperation from the design stage and recommends a dialogue with SPO process engineers as early as possible to ensure DFM, as well as to  discuss built-to-cost issues and to support short Leadtimes. Elements of various surfaces can be manufactured at  SPO – aspheres/ off-axis aspheres, torics/atorics, acylinder and freeforms.

“If you can’t measure it you can’t make it”. The manufacture of precision parts requires highly accurate measurements, performed mostly by specialized measurement systems. SPO  operates a variety of measuring tools used both in process development and production to assure that all elements are up to spec. Specialized instruments are used in order to enable measurement of elements of complex geometry and tight tolerance surfaces. An additional area of metrology is utilized for coating production, to ensure that all parameters of the coating are accurately measured.

Optical surfaces of no symmetry require features such as notches, flat faces, and steps to be added to the element,  for fitting of the parts into the housing. Working with CNC machine centers enables SPO to create  with optomechanical elements, which feature very tight tolerances, to allow  swifter alignment of the parts in the optical systems. Contour shape  needn’t necessarily be circular –  various shapes can be produced according to demand.
